Hapluga hmesayaat 7020 nonprofit organization

was created to cherish the memory of the Mesayaat 7020 soldiers who lost their lives during Operation “Defensive Shield” in Jenin. Operation “Defensive Shield” was a large-scale military operation undertaken by the IDF (Israel Defense Forces) against Palestinian terrorists.

On March 27th, 2002, a suicide bombing occurred at the Park Hotel in Natanya during a Passover Seder, often referred to as the “Seder Night Massacre.” 30 Israelis were murdered and 160 were injured. This attack was considered a pivotal turning point of the Israeli governments’ attitude towards the capabilities of the Palestinian Authority. The very next day, the IDF launched the “Defensive Shield Operation” to eliminate the raging terrorism.

In early April 2002, the Nachson (7020) Battalion of the 5th Brigade was called to conquer and occupy the refugee camp in Jenin. This Battalion was comprised of only reserve soldiers. On April 9, 2002, this Battalion’s professional auxiliary company (Mesayaat) was ambushed in a deadly attack and lost 13 of its officers and soldiers. The heroic acts and sacrifices did not go unnoticed. The Company was awarded numerous Medals of Honor for their sacrifices and acts of heroism.

Our organization would like to commemorate the heroic sacrifices made and to impart these values to future generations. Our desire is to build a Memorial Pool in honor of the fallen soldiers. The families and loved ones of the fallen soldiers will be reminded that these soldiers did not die in vain and that their actions are forever in our hearts. This monument will become part of Israel’s history for future generations to visit and remember.
